Saint-Gobain Opens Building Materials Plant in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A new plant for the production of dry construction materials by French company Saint-Gobain was officially inaugurated on April 29 in the city of Almalyk in the Tashkent region. The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Akram Aliyev.

Founded in France in 1665 by order of King Louis XIV as a glass manufacturing workshop, Saint-Gobain has developed over more than three and a half centuries into one of the global leaders in construction materials and innovative building solutions. Today, the company operates in more than 70 countries worldwide.

The implementation of the project in Almalyk is seen as a significant step in developing Uzbekistan’s industrial capacity. The launch of the facility reflects strong confidence from international investors in the country’s ongoing reforms aimed at improving the investment climate and supporting industrialization.

The opening of the plant is also viewed as another milestone in strengthening economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and France, as well as a contribution to the country’s sustainable industrial development goals.
