Uzbek Citizen Repatriated from Serbia with Aid of Diplomats

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Diplomats from the Embassy of Uzbekistan continue ongoing efforts to protect the rights and legitimate interests of the country’s citizens abroad, including those engaged in labor activities, according to the “Dunyo” news agency.

The latest case involved an Uzbek citizen from Andijan region who found himself in a difficult situation in Serbia. The individual contacted the consular section requesting assistance to return home, citing a lack of funds to purchase an air ticket.

According to his account, his employer in Serbia failed to formalize the employment relationship in accordance with legal requirements and did not conclude a labor contract. As a result, wages for six months of work were not paid, leaving him in a severe financial situation.

In response, embassy staff coordinated with the Migration Agency of Uzbekistan and took prompt measures to resolve the issue.

As a result, an air ticket was purchased using funds from the Support and Protection Fund for Citizens Working Abroad, and the individual was assisted in returning to Uzbekistan.

The diplomatic mission emphasized that protecting citizens’ rights remains a key priority of state policy, and that all necessary measures are taken in such cases to support compatriots abroad.
