Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Algeria Propose Joint Commission, Business Council, and Tashkent Export Showcase in Algiers
Uzbekistan and Algeria are moving toward a structured bilateral economic architecture, with Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and Algerian Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion Kamel Rezig agreeing to explore the creation of an Intergovernmental Joint Commission, a Business Council, and a "Made in Uzbekistan" exhibition in Algiers.
The proposals, put forward during talks on June 12, reflect a broader ambition to formalize and deepen a relationship that both sides described as carrying significant untapped potential. Officials noted that the two economies are complementary and well-positioned to strengthen the commercial bridge between Central Asia and Africa.
Substantive discussions covered expansion of mutual trade volumes, development of logistics corridors, facilitation of direct business-to-business contacts, and the launch of joint investment projects and industrial cooperation initiatives. Supporting frameworks for entrepreneurs in both countries were also on the agenda.
The "Made in Uzbekistan" expo proposal is particularly notable as a market-entry instrument — a format Tashkent has used with increasing frequency to build brand recognition for Uzbek manufactured goods in new export destinations.
