Uzbekistan and UN Discuss Expansion of Multilateral Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held in Bukhara between Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva and United Nations Under-Secretary-General Tatiana Valovaya.
The talks focused on the current state and prospects of multilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United Nations.
It was noted that Uzbekistan is actively cooperating with UN agencies in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
It was emphasized that, through the consistent implementation of the “Uzbekistan–2030” Strategy, the country is achieving concrete progress in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
Tatiana Valovaya, in turn, highlighted Uzbekistan’s leadership role in the region in advancing women’s rights and empowerment. According to her, the reforms being implemented in this area are regarded as a model for the region.
To facilitate the exchange of practical experience, the UN Under-Secretary-General invited the Uzbek delegation to participate in an exhibition to be held at the United Nations Office in Geneva, dedicated to women leaders.
The parties also discussed an initiative by the Uzbekistan Foundation for the Development of Culture and Arts to establish a thematic “Samarkand” hall at the United Nations premises in Geneva. It was noted that the implementation of this project would strengthen Uzbekistan’s cultural presence within the UN system and promote the principles of mutual respect, cultural diversity, and dialogue among civilizations.
