Uzbekistan Extradites Fraud Suspect from Georgia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A citizen of Uzbekistan wanted internationally on charges of large-scale fraud has been extradited from Georgia to Tashkent. The operation was carried out through cooperation between the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Interpol in Uzbekistan and foreign partners.
According to the NCB Interpol, the search was initiated through the channels of the international organization. The Uzbek side maintained continuous coordination and information exchange with national bureaus of foreign countries to establish the suspect’s location and facilitate his arrest.
As a result of joint efforts with the NCB Interpol in Tbilisi, the wanted individual was identified and detained on Georgian territory. At all stages of the process — from the issuance of the international alert to extradition — the Uzbek Interpol bureau provided organizational, legal, and informational support.
After the Ministry of Justice of Georgia approved the request submitted by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan, the individual was handed over to the Uzbek authorities. With the participation of NCB Interpol officers, he was transported to Tashkent for further procedural actions.
The authorities stated that the case demonstrates the effectiveness of Interpol mechanisms and highlights the role of the national bureau in ensuring the inevitability of punishment and combating transnational crime.
