Uzbekistan, Japan Expand AI and Digital Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Japan have agreed to expand cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital transformation and human capital development. The talks were held between the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan and representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), according to the ministry’s press service.
During the discussions, the Uzbek side presented key priorities of the “Digital Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy, including plans to increase IT services exports to US$5 billion, to enter the top 30 countries globally in e-government development, and to train 300,000 highly qualified IT specialists.
Special attention was given to educational initiatives in artificial intelligence. These include the AI Leaders program and projects aimed at translating more than 3,000 international online courses into the Uzbek language, intended to broaden access to modern knowledge and technologies.
The parties noted the rapid development of Uzbekistan’s IT sector. According to the presented data, IT services exports exceeded US$1 billion in 2025, while the number of resident companies in IT Park Uzbekistan approached 4,000, reflecting growing international business interest in the country’s digital ecosystem.
During the talks, the sides also discussed the initiative to establish a Japan–Uzbekistan Digital AI Center. The proposed center is expected to become a platform for training specialists in Japanese language, digital engineering, artificial intelligence and innovative technologies.
The meeting further included exchanges on the regulation and governance of artificial intelligence technologies, the development of joint educational programs, the organization of seminars and training sessions, and the expansion of regional cooperation in the digital sphere.
At the conclusion of the talks, Uzbekistan and JICA confirmed their readiness to further deepen cooperation in digital technologies, youth education and the development of the digital economy.
