Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan’s Uzbekneftegaz and representatives of British Petroleum (BP) held talks in Baku on accelerating the implementation of a major oil and gas project in the Ustyurt region and expanding strategic cooperation.
The discussions took place during Baku Energy Week 2026, where both sides reviewed progress on their production sharing agreement and noted that previously reached agreements in Tashkent are now moving into the practical implementation stage.
The parties discussed a detailed project roadmap through 2029, with a focus on optimizing the timeline for geophysical exploration and adjusting the stages of project execution.
The chairman of Uzbekneftegaz proposed considering the start of drilling operations by the end of 2027 in order to accelerate the strategic project. The sides exchanged views on further improving operational efficiency and project management.
BP representatives reaffirmed their long-term commitment to cooperation in the region, describing Uzbekistan as a destination for decades of investment.
The talks also covered the introduction of modern technologies in the oil and gas sector, including the use of high-performance computing systems and advanced algorithms for seismic data analysis. BP expressed readiness to implement digital solutions and technological innovations in Uzbekistan’s energy industry.
Both sides confirmed their intention to strengthen cooperation and expand it through new practical projects.
