Rotana Explores Hotel Expansion in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Rotana Hotel Management Corporation PJSC, one of the largest hotel operators in the Middle East, is exploring opportunities to enter the Uzbek market amid growing international interest in the country’s expanding tourism sector.
The potential cooperation was discussed during a meeting between Abdulaziz Akkulov, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Amna Al-Nuaimi, Director of Strategy at Rotana. The sides reviewed the current state of Uzbekistan’s tourism industry, ongoing reforms, and conditions created to attract foreign investment into the hospitality sector.
During the talks, the company was briefed on the steady growth of tourist arrivals, the expansion of hotel infrastructure, the development of new travel routes, and the prospects for pilgrimage tourism.
Special attention was given to the tourism potential of the Samarkand region, including infrastructure development around the Imam al-Bukhari complex.
Rotana representatives positively assessed the transformations taking place in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector and expressed plans to study opportunities for launching multiple hotel concepts in the country. These include Rotana Hotels & Resorts for the premium segment, Edge by Rotana for four-star properties, and Centro Hotels by Rotana targeting the modern three-star hotel segment.
Experts note that the entry of international hotel operators not only expands accommodation capacity but also introduces advanced management standards, improves service quality, and strengthens workforce development in the sector. It also enhances the country’s position in the global tourism market and increases its investment attractiveness.
Following the meeting, both sides agreed to continue cooperation. Rotana’s leadership is expected to participate in the Tashkent International Investment Forum and plans to visit Uzbekistan to study existing hotel facilities and potential tourism projects.
