Shirak Avia launches Yerevan–Tashkent direct flights
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Armenian airline Shirak Avia has begun operating regular passenger flights on the Yerevan–Tashkent–Yerevan route, restoring direct air connectivity between the capitals of Armenia and Uzbekistan for the first time in decades.
On 2 June, the first flight from Yerevan landed at Tashkent International Airport, carrying 127 passengers. The aircraft was greeted with a traditional water salute, and the crew was presented with flowers.
On the same day, registration was opened for the inaugural return flight from Tashkent to Yerevan. A total of 177 passengers departed on the first outbound service to the Armenian capital.
Flights will be operated once a week using Boeing 737 aircraft. The new route directly connects the two capitals and is expected to enhance tourism, business relations, and cultural exchange between Uzbekistan and Armenia.
Previously, passengers had to travel with layovers in cities such as Moscow, Istanbul, and Tbilisi.
