Shooting Reported at White House Correspondents Event

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A shooting incident was reported on the evening of April 25 in Washington, D.C. during a reception hosted by the White House Correspondents' Association, attended by U.S. President Donald Trump. The information was reported by CNN.

According to the broadcaster, the event took place at the Washington Hill hotel. Following the outbreak of gunfire, the president, First Lady Melania Trump, and administration officials were evacuated.

The incident occurred near the main security checkpoint equipped with metal detectors. According to CNN, the suspect attempted to breach security but was detained by United States Secret Service officers. One agent sustained a gunshot wound and was hospitalized.

Law enforcement authorities later identified the suspected shooter as a 31-year-old California resident, Cole Thomas Allen, who works as a teacher. His motives have not been disclosed.

Donald Trump later delivered a briefing at the White House, describing the suspect as “a very sick person.” He stated that the man, armed with multiple weapons, attempted to break through the checkpoint but was stopped by “very brave Secret Service officers.”

During his remarks, Trump also referred to previous assassination attempts reported in July 2024 in Pennsylvania and in September of the same year in Florida, calling on American society to reduce political tensions.

Responding to a question about potential threats of political violence, the president said he could not constantly worry about such risks, emphasizing that the role inherently involves danger.

He added that he remains focused on carrying out his duties and expressed pride in his work and the country.
