Uzbekistan and India discuss expanding industrial ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During a visit to Bishkek on the sidelines of the fourth meeting of industry ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation member states, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov held talks with India’s Minister of Heavy Industries Hardanahalli Deve Gowda Kumaraswamy.

The sides discussed prospects for cooperation in geology, mining, extraction of critical minerals, coal gasification, nuclear energy and industrial cooperation. Particular attention was given to attracting Indian companies to the development of promising deposits in Uzbekistan and metal processing.

Separately, the preparation and organisation of the 14th meeting of the Uzbekistan–India Intergovernmental Commission, scheduled for 18 June during the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum, was reviewed.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to accelerate the implementation of joint projects and continue expanding trade and economic cooperation.

It was noted that the dynamics of the partnership are confirmed by the growth of trade turnover between the two countries to US$406 million in the first four months of 2026, the attraction of US$300 million in investments in the first quarter, and the operation of 397 Indian enterprises in Uzbekistan.
