Uzbekistan and Serbia Discuss Expanding Economic Ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Oybek Shakhavdinov held talks with Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adriana Mesarovic, the Dunyo news agency reported.
The sides discussed the current state and prospects of Uzbek-Serbian trade and economic cooperation. Particular attention was given to the implementation of agreements reached during the Serbian minister’s visit to Uzbekistan in February 2026.
During the talks, the parties noted the entry into force of the bilateral economic cooperation agreement.
Both sides confirmed their interest in expanding business contacts and developing joint initiatives.
The parties agreed to accelerate the preparation of a list of goods to be included under a preferential trade regime.
The mechanism is expected to simplify mutual market access for products from Uzbekistan and Serbia.
The Serbian side supported the initiative to establish trade houses in both countries and expressed readiness to move to the practical implementation stage.
The discussions also covered preparations for a visit by a delegation from Uzbekistan’s Agency for the Development of the Light Industry to Serbia on May 24–26. The visit is expected to include a business forum, B2B negotiations, meetings with профильные agencies and visits to enterprises.
The sides also reviewed prospects for cooperation in defense industry, railway infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, labor migration, the chemical industry, e-commerce and the agro-industrial sector.
