Uzbekistan Senate Approves Amendments to Agrarian Law
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis has reviewed and approved a law introducing amendments and additions to a number of legislative acts related to the development of the agricultural sector and the improvement of state regulation in agriculture at a plenary session.
During discussions, lawmakers noted that Uzbekistan is implementing large-scale measures to strengthen food security, introduce modern agricultural technologies, improve the efficiency of agricultural production, and expand the export potential of agricultural products.
The adopted document introduces amendments to the laws “On Seed Production” and “On Recognition of Rights to Self-Occupied Land Plots and Buildings and Structures Built on Them.” In particular, the name of the Inspectorate for Control of the Agro-Industrial Complex under the Cabinet of Ministers is clarified, aimed at streamlining the management system in the sector.
The law also introduces adjustments to legislation on state fees. Under the amendments, the Agency for Agro-Industrial Development under the Ministry of Agriculture is exempted from paying state fees when filing claims, petitions, and complaints to courts in order to protect its rights and legitimate interests, as well as the interests of producers, processing enterprises, and greenhouse farms specializing in fruit and vegetable cultivation.
Senators said the adoption of the law will strengthen the system of state support for the agricultural sector, support the development of fruit and vegetable production, and further enhance the stability of the country’s food supply system.
The law was approved following the review process.
