Uzbekistan, South Korea Discuss Pharma Sector Growth

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 30 April, Director of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan Abdulla Azizov held a meeting with representatives of leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies from the Republic of Korea.

During the talks, participants were presented with information on the current development of Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical sector, investor conditions, existing government incentives, and opportunities within the innovative Bio Pharma City (Tashkent Pharma Park) cluster.

It was noted that Uzbekistan’s strategic geographic location, access to CIS markets, relatively low production costs, and tax and customs preferences are driving strong interest from foreign investors.

The parties discussed promising areas of cooperation, including clinical and preclinical research, the establishment of CRO centers, production of peptides and enzymes, localization of cosmetic products, and the training of qualified personnel for the pharmaceutical industry.

Korean companies positively assessed the potential of Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical sector, viewing the country as a strategic platform for entering the Central Asian market.

Interest was also expressed in implementing joint research projects and expanding cooperation in human capital development.
