Uzbekistan, US discuss migration control cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 2 June 2026, Tashkent hosted a meeting of the Uzbekistan–United States bilateral working group on countering illegal migration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported.

The talks were co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Olimjon Abdullaev and United States Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick.

During the discussions, the sides reviewed the current state and future prospects of cooperation in addressing illegal migration, as well as issues related to the regulation of labour migration and possible measures to simplify visa procedures.

Participants noted the high level of dialogue and practical cooperation developed within the framework of the working group, stressing its importance for strengthening bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and the United States.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides exchanged assessments of the results of joint work and identified further areas for deepening cooperation, including expanded coordination on international platforms.
