Retail trade in Uzbekistan grows by 22.9%
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Retail trade in Uzbekistan grew by 22.9% in January–April 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, according to official statistical data.
As of 1 May 2026, there were 101,182 commercial enterprises operating in the retail sector, including 558 large enterprises and 100,624 small enterprises and microfirms.
Total retail trade turnover for January–April 2026 amounted to 165,865.8 billion soums. Large enterprises generated 29,495.2 billion soums, marking a 26.1% increase, while small businesses and private entrepreneurship accounted for 113,805.8 billion soums, growing by 21.3%.
In the catering sector, 32,266 enterprises were operating as of 1 May 2026, including 266 large companies and 32,000 small businesses and microfirms.
Catering turnover for January–April 2026 reached 69,813.9 billion soums, increasing by 7.2% year-on-year. Small businesses accounted for 79.8% of total turnover, while large enterprises made up 20.2%.
In wholesale trade, 57,301 enterprises were active, including 517 large and 56,784 small firms.
Wholesale turnover for the first four months of 2026 totaled 155,875.5 billion soums, up 12.7% compared to the same period in 2025. Large enterprises generated 44,810.0 billion soums, while small businesses accounted for 111,065.5 billion soums, representing 71.3% of the total.
