Tashkent Cracks Down on Counterfeit Cleaning Products
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Authorities in Uzbekistan have uncovered cases involving the sale of counterfeit household chemicals marketed under well-known trademarks, according to the press service of the Ministry of Justice.
The inspections were initiated following a complaint from Sano Technology, the owner of the “KROT” cleaning products brand.
The rights holder reported instances in Tashkent where products imitating the original brand were being sold, misleading consumers.
Specialists from the Intellectual Property Center under the Ministry of Justice conducted inspections at retail outlets in the capital and documented the sale of counterfeit goods at six locations.
As a result of the enforcement actions, administrative protocols were drawn up against all identified violators under Article 177 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, which предусматривает ответственность for the illegal use of a trademark.
The case materials were submitted to the courts for consideration. Following the proceedings, each of the six companies was fined 15 base calculation units, equivalent to 6.18 million soums. In addition, the violators were ordered to eliminate the identified violations.
The Ministry emphasized that these measures are aimed at protecting intellectual property rights and preventing the spread of counterfeit products in the market.
