Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev held meetings with Russian Deputy Prime Ministers Alexander Novak and Dmitry Patrushev on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026), focusing on the development of bilateral cooperation in the energy and agricultural sectors.

During talks with Alexander Novak, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the energy sector, which remains one of the key areas of Uzbekistan–Russia economic partnership.

According to Khodjaev, the discussions focused on supplies of oil and petroleum products, including automotive gasoline, aviation fuel, and feedstock for oil refining enterprises.

“These areas are directly linked to the tasks of ensuring the energy balance and creating conditions for further industrial development,” Khodjaev said.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continue detailed work on establishing long-term cooperation mechanisms in the energy sector.

In a separate meeting with Dmitry Patrushev, the parties discussed practical issues of further developing cooperation in agriculture and food security.

Khodjaev noted that Russia remains one of Uzbekistan’s key partners in the agricultural sector. In 2025, bilateral trade in agricultural and food products reached US$2.3 billion, while in January–March 2026 it amounted to US$500.7 million.

The discussions paid special attention to ensuring stable supplies, expanding mutual trade, veterinary and phytosanitary cooperation, and maintaining stable conditions for imports of socially important goods and raw materials.

“For us, it is important that cooperation in the agricultural sector continues to develop on the basis of long-term predictability, mutual benefit and practical solutions that meet the interests of businesses in both countries,” Khodjaev said.
