Mirziyoyev Says Uzbek Sales on Russian Platforms Top US$1.5bn

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Sales of Uzbek goods on Russian e-commerce marketplaces have increased 3.5 times over the past several years and exceeded US$1.5 billion, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

He made the statement while speaking at a plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

“The volume of sales of our goods has increased 3.5 times over the past several years, reaching, as already noted, more than US$1.5 billion. I think this is a good result and a good prospect for our future joint work,” Mirziyoyev said.

According to the president, further cooperation could be linked to the formation of a joint digital ecosystem between Uzbekistan and Russia.

“To deepen cooperation, we propose starting the formation of a joint digital ecosystem,” he said.

He noted that such a system could include the harmonisation of rules for digital trade and urban services, further promotion of Uzbek and Russian brands on mutual platforms, the creation of a unified digital employment profile, and the development of new digital products.

The plenary session of SPIEF was also attended by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, the Deputy Chairman of the People’s Republic of China, the Minister of Energy of Saudi Arabia, and the President of Tanzania.

The 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum opened on 3 June under the theme “Pragmatic Dialogue — The Path to a Stable Future”.

Discussions at the forum focus on global geopolitical changes, international diplomacy, transformation of financial and energy systems, and the development of cooperation with Global South countries.
