Saida Mirziyoyeva Holds Talks with UNEP and GEF

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva held meetings with senior representatives of international environmental organizations on the sidelines of the Assembly.

She met with United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme Inger Andersen, as well as Chief Executive Officer of the Global Environment Facility Carlos Manuel Rodríguez.

The discussions focused on pressing environmental challenges of regional importance, including measures to combat desertification and land degradation, air quality monitoring, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable use of natural resources.

Saida Mirziyoyeva expressed appreciation to UNEP and the Global Environment Facility for their support of ongoing green reforms in Uzbekistan and their contribution to promoting practical environmental solutions.

She noted that the work of these international institutions contributes to the implementation of initiatives aimed at sustainable development and addressing environmental challenges.

The meeting also highlighted the successful organization of the historic Assembly of the Global Environment Facility in Samarkand, with participants congratulated on the event’s successful completion.
