Uzbekistan, SPbSUT Expand Cooperation in IT Sector
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov visited the Saint Petersburg State University of Telecommunications named after Professor M. A. Bonch-Bruevich during a working trip to Russia, where he discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in digital education, scientific research and personnel training.
The talks focused on potential collaboration in 5G and 6G technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and telecommunications. Special attention was given to training specialists for the IT industry and the communications sector.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed to further develop cooperation between SPbSUT, the Tashkent University of Information Technologies and Cyber University. They also discussed the launch of dual degree programmes, expanded opportunities for Uzbek students in master’s and doctoral studies, and the development of academic exchange.
Another topic was the creation of a joint research centre specialising in next-generation communication networks and radio frequency spectrum management systems.
During the visit, Sherzod Shermatov met with Uzbek students studying at SPbSUT, reviewed their study and living conditions, and answered their questions.
The delegation of the Ministry of Digital Technologies also visited university laboratories and research centres, including units working in cybersecurity, radio communications, media technologies and modern telecommunications solutions. The delegation was presented with the university’s scientific and educational infrastructure and ongoing innovative projects.
The development of partnerships between educational institutions in Uzbekistan and Russia is expected to contribute to the training of internationally qualified specialists, the implementation of joint research and the strengthening of human resources in the digital technology sector.
