Uzbekistan to launch national reading promotion movement
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan will introduce an annual national movement to promote reading among school students starting from 2026, according to a presidential resolution on the wide implementation of reading programs among youth and support for their interests.
The program is aimed at developing reading habits among students and supporting educational engagement. It will be implemented annually in three stages.
The first stage of the competition will be held online through the electronic platform kitobxonlikharakati.uz for registered participants. The second and third stages will be conducted in person at regional and republican levels.
Participants will compete in three age categories and undergo selection in accordance with established procedures.
Winners and prizeholders among senior students (grades 6–8 and 9–11) will be awarded monetary prizes and certificates.
According to the established conditions, the following awards are предусмотрены:
* 2 first-place winners will receive US$50,000 each and a diploma;
* 2 second-place winners will receive US$30,000 each and a diploma;
* 2 third-place winners will receive US$15,000 each and a diploma;
* winners in five additional categories will receive US$10,000 each and a diploma.
