Karakalpakstan Delegation Discusses Investment Projects in China
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Karakalpakstan, led by the Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes Amangbay Orynbaev, has conducted a working visit to the People’s Republic of China on instructions from the President of Uzbekistan. The visit focused on discussing investment projects in industry, logistics, and agriculture.
On the first day of the visit, an Uzbekistan–China business forum was held, dedicated to trade, economic, and investment cooperation between Karakalpakstan and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China.
During the event, a meeting took place with Zhu Lifan, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Government of Xinjiang, where the Uzbek side presented information on the conditions being created for investors in Karakalpakstan.
Following the talks, preliminary agreements were reached on implementing projects in the processing of natural resources, transport and logistics, as well as agriculture and livestock farming.
A separate part of the negotiations focused on industrial cooperation. The delegation met with representatives of China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., resulting in the signing of a memorandum on launching the assembly of agricultural machinery and maintenance services in Nukus.
Talks were also held with Xinjiang Zhongtai Chemical Co., Ltd., where the parties discussed establishing production of caustic soda and polyvinyl chloride in Karakalpakstan, as well as creating the Aral Dry Port logistics center.
In the energy and machinery sector, projects were discussed with Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd., including accelerating the production of wind power turbine towers. At the same time, an agreement was reached with Tianfeng on a US$40 million contract for cotton cultivation.
In addition, the parties considered prospects for cooperation in developing livestock feed production, construction materials, cable products, agricultural machinery, and other industrial areas aimed at strengthening the region’s economic potential.
